Wrap-around sewing room unit

This piece was fabricated to be as open as possible. It features both a multi-position curtain rod and a hanging plant rod as well as two large drawers, cut outs for cords at the back of the desk, open shelving that fits bins for toys and sewing projects, and a large two-person work area intended for kid-friendly sewing collaborations. The boxed-in drawers end up doubling as a support system for the large span of the work area making for a sturdy desk without any additional support structure. Shelves at the edges of the window are intended for additional plants.

Shown in white powder coated domestic A36 steel, with naturally finished and sustainably-produced bamboo plywood.

Bamboo plywood is a renewable and impressively durable material that is significantly stronger across a span than normal plywood making it an ideal material for this application. The beautiful grain gives it life and color. Instead of a plywood edge, which is an eyesore, bamboo plywood has an attractive cell structure, providing a feature where otherwise would be a blemish.
