A few pics of a very California-modern countertop collaboration with @friendly.fabrication. This piece had it all: really cool clients, weld-in seamless sink, 30” of on-site butt welding (came out so clean), and a nice tight third floor walk-up. Just try and find a seam. Ya can’t! It’s too dang clean. A perfect example of how sometimes making effortless-looking work takes so much highly skilled effort. 3/16” stainless steel. So nice. Both copper and white are powder coated for durability (not actual copper, but a fun color powder with wee flecks in it). Comes in a sweet pink box with super simple directions and a little allen wrench - just like the big guys, only better and much more hand-made. 11.75” width top, 19” height, 8” width base (these are the roundy dimensions, the noodley ones are similar). Three of three! I saved this for last because I think it’s my favorite. I’m pleased to present the Vault mirror. My lovely wife @betayasimone came up with this design a few weeks before @westcoastcraft and I flushed out, engineered, and fabricated these just in time to sell most of them. I love to see what sells and speak to people in person while they’re checking out my goods and a lot of the colors I produced less of in this first run are sold out, but I still have a few of my favorite color combos. These come in two different sizes and, like most of my pieces, I can make custom versions in any proportion that’s desired. These make wonderful alters or can be used anywhere in the house to display your cutest items or check yourself out before you walk out the door. I love the fun colored mirrors and I’ll definitely be making more weird stuff with acrylic in the future. I’ve been enjoying how you can see the back of chachkies displayed on the shelf, but with the addition of the color from the mirror. What do you have to display? It’s gonna look good and you know what? You look great today. New product number two! Door-knockers! I’m not talking about your friend’s earrings in the 90’s, but actual modern door knockers for your front door. Are your friends still using their knuckles like savages? You need a thing for that! These are stainless steel, brass, and bronze and will weather in beautifully and outlast whatever door they’re installed on. The simple elegant lines can pair with a wide variety of aesthetics.They have a nice solid sound and feel. I came up with this idea and did 3/4 of the manufacturing a few years ago when I first got a lathe. They kicked around the shop in an unfinished state until I dusted them off for @westcoastcraft this year and they were a hit! They just beg to be knocked. These could be installed on an apartment door as well and with just two holes needed to install even a renter (like myself) could bring them from house to house and just repair the holes with a bit of goo on move-out. I have just a few left so get them while they’re available. I’m super pleased to be releasing a three new items to the “ready to order” section of the website. If you saw me at @westcoastcraft you’ll have seen these new releases, but for the rest of you (or if you dilly-dallied at WCC), these are now available online. The first of these I’ll be releasing is the "Peg and Shelf” coat rack. Available in either shelf-left or shelf-right configurations. These are made from cold rolled steel and solid machined brass. Several choices of wood are still available. If you were keeping up on my stories you may have caught the fabri-cobbled threading head that made the brass studs on these. I’m really pleased with how they came out and I’m excited to be releasing them out into the world. If you bought one of these (or anything else) from me at WCC it would mean a lot to me if you could take a picture of where it’s living and send it over or post it. The “black locust” wood from @peroba_reclaimed is really gorgeous. They’re good folks selling good stuff. I still have a few with that wood which I probably won’t ever see the likes of again. I had made just one of these in white powder coat and it sold in the first few minutes of WCC. Should I make more? When I sell a few more of these I’ll likely make another run and I could do other colors of steel or other types of wood. If you have any ideas I’d always love to hear them. I met Sam of @rocketglassworks years ago at @westcoastcraft while trying to find someone to work on this project with me and instantly liked him. I met Shawn of @slmetalworks some many years before that, also liked her instantly, and was super pleased to pull her into the project as well. I’m super excited to be close to the finish line with these lighting sconces. Of course I’ll post more when they’re all gussied up, assembled and installed. These are geomancia dice for geomancy, which is a kind of divination utilizing geometric forms. These are 100% solid brass precision machined for precise magic. I’d LOVE to make another set of these. Weekend work - I took a few hours to make my long time bestie @celinegrouard some ceramic tools and a funky little case. I’m not a great leather worker, but I enjoy the process. Super fun to do a bite sized project.

I’m really pleased to have another large shelving unit installed for another lovely client. After some communication, we went with a lighter finish for the wood and some fun features like a bar for hanging plants and a large cantilevered desk intended for a sewing machine or laptop. In order to have a strong desk without lower support, we utilized a boxed drawer system. This stabilized the desk without any visual clutter. I’m excited to see it filled up with the stuff of life.

I’m really pleased with how these benches and tables came out for @nico_wine_sacramento. Things like this seem simple enough until you start to actually develop and engineer the realities. Making things look simple is complicated. Keeping it effortless visually is a challenge I enjoy. I love installing my own work and hearing the comments from passers by. This is definitely going to raise the profile of this sweet wine shop as well as increasing the seating. I can’t wait to see the cushions come in from the upholsterer to finish it all off.

I’m really pleased with how these small tables for @nico_wine_sacramento came out. They’re a great example of a super simple idea that requires really clean fabrication. The tops are 100% flat and level and the flats are a really good 90 degrees from the top and bottom. It’s pleasing geometry to my eye.

Shop made die holder for external threading on the lathe. I’ve been meaning to make myself one of these for a while and finally got around to it last week. I’m pretty dang pleased with the results. The grippy twisting rod (technical term) has a wee knurl that locks it in place during use and storage. It has play on the shaft (innuendo) horizontally to stay concentric while pulling into the threads. I know I should use some threading oil, but brass moves pretty well without it. So nice.
